Concept design for Mobile App
¶ Kick-off
Stove Cook, a London-based startup, asked for my help in the creation of their mobile app.
Let's start with what Stove Cook is about: a way of simplifying the daily struggle of shopping and cooking. This app combines a digital cookbook, tailored recipes from select brands, and ingredient lists from local grocery stores. Themed chats add a pleasant social aspect as well.
MY CONTRIBUTION
I shaped and designed the digital experience, from the UX to the UI for an MVP version app, ready to be tested by users.
VISUAL DIRECTION
Contemporary, young, and confident look
Given that our target consumer is young and compelled to shop online, we crafted a design capable of combining the most recent trends in e-shops: wide, bold typography with a strong color palette – nowadays timid designs aren't welcomed by gen-z and gen-y!
RECIPE SECTION
Recipes as posts on social feed
The recipe section is the main hub: users will have access to a social media-like feed displaying the most recent and relevant recipes tailored for them. One tap brings up the details page, offering all the damn guidance that a chef – from amateur to master – could ask for.
ADDING A RECIPE
Let's become chefs, step by step
While designing this flow was compelling, it was honestly a pain in the ass – as with cooking, this flow required patience - something I seem to lack. We tried our best to keep it as short and sweet as possible, but no recipe is complete without an exhaustive list of ingredients and set of instructions.
GROCERIES SECTION
A colorful, brand-first, visual market
Packaging is the key element to brand recognition, and therefore product selection – visuals are everything! Users navigate different categories, such as Fruits and Fish, to locate products which are designed in a Pinterest-like fashion according to brand colors and product shape.
SEARCH SECTION
Fast – yet specific – search results
Like physical grocery stores and social media platforms, we opted for a browse-based navigation model. So the search area is a section of the main navigation. Recipe- and product-based specific searches are possible through filters, resulting in further browsing possibilities.
MESSAGES SECTION
Social, social, social – yep!
Stove enables private conversations – very convenient in shared grocery orders – and thematic chats to share knowledge, tips, and find communities. Think about it: each day, 81% of dishes consumed worldwide are cooked within the kitchens of millions of home cooks. Let's give them a club!
CART SECTION
Family members and housemates, no more excuses!
Sharing the grocery budget and list has never been simpler! Thanks to the included social aspect of Stove, carts and payments may be shared with family members, housemates, friends, etc.
PERSONAL AREAS
Collect points – get free products
Within the app there is a point-accrual system, triggered by users' actions: adding a recipe, sharing a cart, inviting friends to Stove, commenting on other's recipes, and so on. A profile page completes the personal aspect, summarizing all of their activities.

SPECIAL THANKS
Mitul Lad, ID & UX Designer
Finally! A shop, and one for a young demographic. What more could I desire? Joking aside, I really appreciated the topic and the freedom the team gave me in terms of design control. Practical people who are quick to progress make up Stove. Currently in MVP status, I'm watching closely to see the next move – ad maiora to Stove's team!
