¶  Kick-off

A friend of mine, Simone Surdi, decided to start his own startup with his friend Leonardo Morgatto.

Their business goal is to reshape the global rental market for business travellers, by increasing the value of rental properties through providing premium services, like those offered in first class. Unfinished or undervalued properties in key neighborhoods will be renovated with high-quality, cost-effective furniture and then sub-let for mid-term periods to tenents.

In this way, Tabas – the picked name for the startup – will be able to simultaneously satisfy the long-term commitment required by landlords and the mid-term flexibility required by tenants. The main target of this service will be those who travel for work.

MY CONTRIBUTION

I have been involved from the beginning, creating the first sketches for their pitch and business plan for investors. I helped with the logo proposal, and then designing the main templates for the web platform, both UX and UI sides.

Tabas' origins in indigineous language

When the founders told me the origins of the "Tabas" name, I was – and I still am – surprised. "Tabas", an indiginous Brazilian word, means "agglomeration of huts". This brings to mind a sense of belonging and community, but lacks the premium comforts the brand yearns to portray.

Meanwhile, as I worked on the design, I focused on comfort meeting class.
My prefer logo was A. solution.

VISUAL IDENTITY

Premium business style

The main challenge was to create a visual identity that respects the main users: business travellers who desire a luxurius, premium and all-inclusive stay. The visual identity should fit these values.

New services for landlords, tenants, and corporations

The biggest goal of the landing page is first, to let the tenants search for apartments for their business trips, and second, to explain the service and its relative benefits to both landlords/corporations.

Easily find the perfect home

Within the "Apartments" section, the user is able to find homes through a map and a list of cards. Using the filter bar, the user can pick other details to nail down his research.

All the information that the user needs to finalize his choice and proceed with the booking: unit and building amenities as well as photos and a video tour.

Options for corporations and landlords

Tabas provides for both corporations and landlords A-Z service.
The landlords can renovate or simply rent their apartments without worry, since the property management and maintenance will be taken care of by Tabas. Instead, corporations can trust a new complete service for their employees, assured that they will receive premium treatment.

In other common templetes, i.e. About and Careers, I kept the design consistent, with a friendly but professional tone of voice.
